All kids start out doing art, some of us just never stop. While studying art in school I discovered surrealism and was drawn into the use of solid familiar imagery, unbound by the rules of reality.  I enjoy symbolism that many subjects from the natural world carry and the connection it has for me and clients. I use these meanings as metaphors or tools to compose stories, or reflect on life and the different limitations we face. I use many mediums, and most pieces are mixed media. I have a special affinity for watercolor, and love the luminosity you get from the transparent colors. Through experimenting, I have found layering watercolor with other transparent mediums on to wood allows the wood grain to shine through. This shimmer lends to the feeling of movement in the whimsical and bizarre scenes that carry on beyond the frame, leaving a world to be explored.
